Troubleshooting

General

  • Update to the latest version via the App Store.
  • Confirm the device has internet — FM Alerts needs a live backend connection.
  • Use Refresh health to verify connectivity. “200 — ok” confirms the app can reach the server.
  • “Degraded” means reachable but data freshness is below target — normal during off-market hours.
  • Pull-to-refresh forces an immediate update if data looks stale.

Sign-in & access

  • Equities Pressure and Futures Live require sign-in. Tap the sign-in card at the top of the app.
  • If sign-in fails, check the email is lowercase and the access code is exact.
  • Signing out clears stored credentials locally — sign back in to restore access.

Push notifications

  • Push requires a real iPhone — it doesn't work in the simulator.
  • If you declined the permission, enable it in Settings → FM Alerts → Notifications.
  • Check Do Not Disturb / Focus isn't blocking alerts.
  • After reinstalling, sign out and back in to re-register the device token.

Alert rules & sounds

  • Sounds play for new events only — not on refresh. That's expected.
  • If a rule fires too often, increase its cooldown.
  • Log-only rules are recorded but don't email; enable email only where needed.

Equities Pressure

  • Scores are 0–100: above 55 = accumulation/distribution, 35–54 = caution, below 35 = neutral.
  • Scores differentiate most during U.S. market hours; off-hours they cluster.
  • News sentiment is context only — not fundamental analysis.

Futures Live

  • Signals are session-aware; Weekend and Maintenance sessions are suppressed by design.
  • Asia/Europe sessions use wider thresholds — fewer signals, reflecting thinner liquidity.
  • Flow scores of 0 are normal off-hours with minimal trade activity.

FAQ

Do I need a brokerage account or trading access?+
No. FM Alerts is monitoring only — it displays data and delivers alerts. It never connects to a brokerage, executes trades, or requires trading permissions.
Is FM Alerts on the App Store?+
Yes. Search “FM Alerts” or use the Download link. TestFlight is also available for early development builds.
Is every section visible without signing in?+
Backend health and the watchlist are visible without sign-in. Equities Pressure, Futures Live, rules, and event history require authentication.
Does FM Alerts work on iPad?+
Yes — iPhone and iPad. The layout adapts to larger screens with more detail in Futures Live and the watchlist.
What does “institutional pressure proxy” mean?+
It's a proxy using publicly licensed data (price, volume, news sentiment) to approximate directional pressure. It has no real-time dark-pool visibility or true institutional flow — and it's honest about that.
What market hours are covered?+
Equities alerts fire from Alpaca data during and shortly after U.S. hours. Futures cover 24/5 with session-aware thresholds (U.S., Europe, Asia, Weekend-suppressed). Rules are checked around the clock.
What should I include in a support email?+
Device model (e.g. iPhone 16e), app version, iOS version, and what you expected vs what happened. Screenshots or recordings help for UI issues.
